We have been working diligently. Every month we send supplies to somewhere in need around the world. We are so excited that we’ve been able to grow our programs. Last summer we expanded our vitamin program in Guatemala to two additional elementary schools. We now have three schools with very dedicated directors and teachers who make sure that the children receive their multivitamins. We continue to see the benefits from this project. Kids that are healthier, do better at school and attend school more often. We’ve also been able to provide lots of sports equipment for their after school programs. Last month we were excited to sponsor a project in their community making 1000 hygiene kits for the children in the schools. This will allow them to clean their hands/bodies and teeth at school. We know this will decrease infections and help them to feel better. It was exciting for us to see the community come together and assemble the kits for the children after we were able to provide the supplies,. In the last few months we have sent hats/blankets to Tanzania, several hospitals in Peru, Ethiopia, the Prenatal Homeless Shelter in San Francisco and several local nurseries. The Max Foundation that helped distribute the hats in Peru and Ethiopia said “Thank you for your contributions and for the joy and comfort they bring to young patients around the world.” In the rural hospital in Peru they said the mothers were overcome with the beautiful gifts. In Guatemala they shared: “Something cosmic takes place when we as humans share time, effort and resources in a work of love and compassion. The moms, dads and kids all had bright happy smiles, I know all of us finished our time with full hearts seeing community being made, bridges of love established and hope for a brighter future.” In San Francisco they commented that “we had just hit a cold spell and the families were so grateful for the warmth and comfort that the hats brought; the kids were racing to the front desk to get their hats. We are so grateful for all the people who have helped us knit and make the blankets”. We have so many dedicated volunteers: Beverly Louie, Phillis Quintero, Anna Sun, Hula Wahine, the Athenian School, the knitting group in Visalia and Janet Brimhall. There are also so many people that may just knit one or two hats but every single hat is not only a needed baby item but an expression of love. Thanks for helping us reach out and make a big difference. You have helped us touch many lives.
